A Plus Kennels

A Plus Kennels offers dog boarding in Sherwood, AR, on 14 grassy and wooded acres at 9223 Northview Drive, and it boards cats as well. The property sits minutes from the city limits of Sherwood, North Little Rock and Jacksonville, and near Little Rock Air Force Base. Susan Gardner started the kennel in 1997.

What a stay looks like

Dogs stay in indoor/outdoor kennel runs or indoor runs. The indoor runs are 10 feet long and climate controlled, and eight outdoor runs measure 10 by 4 feet. The kennel accepts pets of all sizes, from small dogs through giant breeds. Buddy Boarding lets pets from the same household share accommodations, though the kennel reserves the right to separate guests if arguments come up. Cats stay in specially designed cat condos.

What it costs

Published rates run $36 per day for a kennel run and $65 per day for Buddy Boarding. Cat boarding is $20 per day. Stays of 14 days or more get 5% off the boarding price, and stays of 30 days or more get 10% off. Playtime sessions are $10 per half hour, medication is $4 per day, and a bath and blow dry runs $30 to $45 depending on the dog's weight.

Booking and hours

Reservations are made by phone at 501-590-2129, and drop-off and pickup times are confirmed when the reservation is booked. The site lists drop-off and pickup windows of 8 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday. Sundays are closed for drop-off and pickup, holidays are by appointment, and after-hours drop-off or pickup carries a $25 fee. Criss Gardner has spent 25 years training, showing and kenneling dogs and is a certified law enforcement instructor.
